Promenade

These are the strip of land, paved pathway along the beach line, you can walk along the promenades without getting sand in your shoes :)- Years ago when beaches were very popular, the promenades had pavilions, punch and Judy shows, paddling pools, and fish and chip shops, as well as the usual rock and souvenir stands.

First picture is Blackpool, then Porthcawl, then Aberavon. They are quite empty these days, as a lot of people go abroad now, and have left the beaches to die.

They also hide the large sea barrier :)
