Shrimps

Shrimp are small crustaceans with 10 jointed legs and a nearly cylindrical,
translucent body. Unlike lobsters and crabs, which are crawlers, shrimp are
swimmers. Some grow to 23 cm long, but most are smaller.
Shrimp are America's most popular seafood, whole cultures and maritime
communities are based solely on these crustaceans. South Carolina has two
important penaeid shrimp species, brown shrimp (Penaeus aztecus) and white
shrimp (Penaeus setiferus). |
